Body jet liposuction, also known as Water Jet Liposuction (WAL) uses a saline solution, which is injected into the tissues to reach the fatty areas. Dr. Ellenbogen uses a water-spray device that simultaneously injects water into the body while removing the fat deposits. He is able to control the amount of pressure throughout the procedure and greatly reduce post-operative swelling and discomfort.
Since the incision sites are relatively small in the liposuction procedure, patients can heal and recover easily within a few weeks and sport a bathing suit in a matter of weeks or months without worrying too much about scars. This procedure is most beneficial for individuals who are of average weight and want to get rid of unsightly, hereditary bulges rather than those seeking weight loss.
Body Jet liposuction has had significant success in Europe and was introducted in the US in late 2008. Only a handful of skilled surgeons in the U.S., such as Dr. Ellenbogen, have had experience with this technique.
