Dr.
Ellenbogen is very active in helping to raise
funding and support for the Hospital
de la Fe in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and
Project Happy Face. We wish to thank The
Iacocca Foundation for their generous donation
to the Hospital de la Fe!
Dr. Ellenbogen's goal is to help children and also adults
who have congenital or injury-induced deformities. The Hospital
de la Fe is not currently equipped for these types of surgeries,
so patients are referred to the Celaya Clinic of Dr. Velazquez
and Dr. Berlanga where speech therapy, orthodontic therapy
and dental therapy are available. Dr. Ellenbogen is hoping
to set up a cosmetic surgery clinic which can be used to
help support reconstructive surgery for children and adults
in clinics that provide those valuable services in the area.
Dr. Ellenbogen and his wife will be living part-time in
San Miguel so he can become even more involved with the
hospital.
Below are photos of children who have lip and facial defects
who were fortunate enough to have surgery.
To find out how you can donate to this hospital and very
wonderful cause, please contact our office at 310-276-3183.
Alternatively, you may give through the San Miguel Educational
Foundation (SMEF) specifying that the donation is for Project
Happy Face. Checks should be payable to SMEF and mailed
to their office in Laredo, TX at:
SMEF
220 North Zapata Hwy. #11
PMB-5K
Laredo, TX 78043
The foundation will send a US tax deductible receipt to
each donor.

| Right: 8-month
old child with a cleft palette. Because of the hole,
he can't talk, eat or drink and must be fed through
a feeding tube in his stomach. He is presently being
treated at the Celaya Clinic with extra funding being
supplied by Hospital de la Fe. Because of his cleft
palette, he is malnourished and must be bulked up
before having surgery. |
