Rhinoplasty

| Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery) Beverly Hills | Rhinoplasty (Nose Surgery) Los Angeles |

We perform cosmetic nose surgery and nasal breathing surgery, as well as correction of previously operated noses called revision rhinoplasty or secondary rhinoplasty. Dr. Ellenbogen has introduced many innovations, which give patients a natural, un-operated look.

Cosmetic nose surgery and reconstructive nose surgery, also called rhinoplasty, is done to make your nose look more aesthetically pleasing to you, correcting your nose into proportion with the rest of your facial features, reshape a deformity from birth or an accident or previous surgery, and/or help you breathe better.

Rhinoplasty is used to correct or enhance:

  • Nose size and proportion
  • Nose symmetry and deviated septum
  • Bridge width
  • Profile, including bumps or depressions
  • Large, drooping or upturned nasal tip
  • Large, wide or upturned nostrils

Functional Rhinoplasty (Nose Breathing Surgery)

When considering functional Rhinoplasty, several areas of the nose should be addressed. The opening of the nose, called the external valve, the middle part of the inside of the nose, called the septum, the structures on the outside wall of the inside of the nose, called turbinates, and the internal nasal valve problems such as cancer. Each one of these areas can contribute to difficulty breathing through the nose and may need to be addressed separately or together to get the best possible results

Many patients feel that cosmetic surgeons only operate on beautifying the nose, but in fact plastic surgeons like Dr. Ellenbogen are experts in opening up the nasal airways to make breathing easier. Inflammatory problems such as nasal allergies or sinusitis can be the root of this problem; however structural problems in the nose may also be the culprit. Be it nasal blockage from enlarged hypertrophic turbinates, a deviated septum, vomer, or ethmoid, or collapsing internal valves (nose pinches inward and blocks airflow on inhalation), Dr. Ellenbogen is experienced in each of these and other corrections. Dr. Ellenbogen performs many nasal surgeries in which both cosmetic and functional breathing problems are corrected in the same operation.

Nostrilplasty (Correcting nostril size and shape)

Some individuals are born with asymmetrical nostrils or very wide nostrils. Others have misshapen nostrils caused by a previous rhinoplasty. Dr. Ellenbogen won an award from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in 2003 for his landmark article on reshaping nostrils. He is considered a world expert in the correction of the asymmetrical nostrils, nostrils that are too large, nostrils that are too narrow or misshapen nostrils.

Like all surgeries, outcomes from rhinoplasty are best when patients have realistic expectations and are undergoing the procedure for themselves and not to please others.
