This procedure, also known as reduction mammaplasty, reduces
the size and reshapes the contour of large breasts by removing
excess breast skin and breast tissue. It may also include
reducing the size of the areola (dark skin surrounding the
nipple) and repositioning the nipple and areola.
Using this technique, breast size is reduced by the removal
of excess skin and breast tissue, through several incisions
around the lower portions of the breast, under the breast
fold, and around the nipple.
Benefits: This procedure is performed to correct
the posture problems, shoulder grooving and back pain sometimes
associated with large breasts. In addition, this procedure
reshapes the breasts to make them more proportionate to the
remainder of the body.
