to Facelifts Before & After Photos
A facelift, when done correctly, should:
1. Allow for patient recover with little or no discomfort/pain.
With proper post-op medications and a surgeon who performed
a good facelift, patients should not be in pain after surgery.
2. Not require patient to wear a bandage after the first
day.
Dr. Ellenbogen has eliminated the bandage for post-op
facelift patients after the first day after their surgery.
3. Require only minimal incisions, which should be virtually
undetectable, once healed.
An example of a patient of Dr. Ellenbogen's is below.
In fact, the incision length Dr. Ellenbogen uses is 30-60%
shorter than the length of incision used by many surgeons.

4. Pose minimal risk.
Risks are greatly reduced through the use of an experienced,
Board certified surgeon and surgical staff, including a
Board certified anesthesiologist.
5. Allow patient to wash hair on day 1, walk outside day
2 and be able to drive and resume exercise in a week.*
6. Be long-lasting.
We advise that patients be careful of "threading"
and other "new alternative facelift" methods that
are not time-tested. For example, many people jumped on
the Thermage bandwagon for a while after it was shown as
"the new facelift" on several TV shows. Our office
did not offer Thermage, but treated many people who had
severely pitted, scarred skin after having Thermage.
7. Look natural.
Dr. Ellenbogen wrote the book on this topic-- literally!
Dr. Ellenbogen published a textbook chapter for other doctors
on how to avoid the "done look."
8) Eliminate jowls to reveal a perfect neckline and neck.
Again, this is the tip off area many doctors don't spend
enough time on. The neckline should be smooth but not look
pulled or unnatural.
9) Incorporate fat grafting when needed to address the fat
loss that occurs with age.
Aging causes both sagging (gravity) and deflation (much
like a balloon that has lost air with time). Many surgeons
only address the sagging, which can leave patients looking
"pulled" and unnatural. When appropriate, Dr.
Ellenbogen combines fat grafting with his facelifts to produce
the most natural results. He often will ask patients for
an old photo of themselves to map out the places on their
face that have lost the most volume.
10) Be performed by a world-renowned surgeon.
Dr. Ellenbogen is regularly invited to teach other surgeons
about his techniques in creating the most natural and beautiful
facelift results.
* All cases are different and vary by patient.
These are general guidelines that apply to the majority
of our patients.
